You can easily get control of your life by mastering workflow, which is a collection of activities, tasks, and projects involved in accomplishing a goal. These activities can be grouped into five phases: collect, process, organize, DO & review/reflect on work completed so far; and engage in the next steps. When following these five phases it becomes much easier to control your life by getting organized in all aspects of life – both at home and at work.
1) Collect – things that command our attention;
Start by collecting all of your tasks, projects, and other work-related information into one place. If you’re not already doing so, use a workflow tool like OmniFocus or Todoist that will help you keep track of every task. Having all your stuff in one place will ensure nothing slips through the cracks. Once you have a workflow tool up and running, set it up to serve as a hub for all information related to your professional life.
2) Process – what they mean and what to do about them;
The way we feel about a challenge or a problem has a lot to do with how we process what’s going on around us. If you have trouble managing your time, for example, you might find yourself feeling overwhelmed by all that needs doing and uncertain as to where to start. In that case, step back from your list and just spend some time understanding what it is that makes you feel as though there’s so much you need to do.
3) Organize – the results, which we;
You’re too busy to be organized. The organization takes time, and they’re just aren’t enough hours in a day! Well, no more excuses—you can achieve organizational success by setting aside 15 minutes at night to dole out tasks for tomorrow (it doesn’t take much time to make sure you don’t forget everything). 4) Review – as options for what we choose to;
One thing that will help you get control over your life is reviewing what you’re choosing to do. Maybe you’re doing something out of habit, when in reality, there are much better ways for you to be spending your time. Sometimes we put off things because we don’t know how or can’t afford them but once we examine our reasoning, there might be solutions available that could help us overcome these obstacles.
5) DO – This constitutes the management of the “horizontal”;
Organize your days, weeks, and months. DO is about doing something rather than planning or thinking about doing it. DO is about making things happen, not just planning them. DO enables you to feel that you are moving forward, that you are making a difference and getting a result – even if sometimes it’s small steps forward.

1) Not Doing Research
Even though you can finish an essay or paper without ever looking anything up, you will be more confident in your work if you take a few minutes before writing to do some research. After all, if someone was able to find information on your topic, so can someone else. Not doing research can hurt you later if your research ends up being weak or irrelevant. Worse yet, someone else could just use that same information against you! Do yourself a favour and look up at least three things about your topic before writing.
2) Don’t guess goals
We all have goals, but are you one of those people who never seems to achieve them? The reason for that could be that you’re trying to write your goals down before you actually know what they are. The first step in setting your goals should be deciding what they are. Then, once you have a clear picture of where you want to go, take some time to put them on paper so you can refer back to them later.
3) Don’t Overthink It
In today’s world, our lives are moving at a faster pace than ever before. Information overload is a part of life for most people who must keep up with social media, emails, and other apps that run in the background on their phones. Unfortunately, overthinking everything can lead to a loss of time and productivity as you attempt to deal with each task individually. Instead, create an outline or schedule for your day so you can plan out all your tasks from start to finish.
4) Communication mistakes
You know that it is important to be professional when you are trying to impress a potential employer, but did you know that there are also some common mistakes that many people make? In addition, what can help you avoid making these mistakes in your personal and professional life? There are some very simple ways for you to become a better communicator. If you take a few minutes each day to practice a little bit, soon enough you will notice a significant improvement in how other people respond when they talk with you.
5) Skipping important steps

It becomes particularly challenging if you like to jump from one task to another while working. You may find yourself jumping back and forth between two tasks for hours on end; once one project is complete, it’s easy to get excited about another without finishing up what you were doing previously.
7) Unfinished deliverables
Unfinished deliverables (or in-process deliverables) can cause a huge amount of stress and anxiety for project managers and other team members because they don’t know if their team members will finish them on time. The problem is that work piles up, and soon enough there are way too many things for people to work on at once, which can cripple your entire operation.
8) Untested products being approved
Okay, so you’ve made a prototype and it’s shiny and new. But what does that mean? If it hasn’t been tested by experts who know what they’re doing, how can you be sure that it will really do everything your team claims it will? Make sure your development team knows how important testing is. Ask them to test in any way possible: if a product doesn’t work, they should not ship it—not even for a limited beta.
9) The Half-Implementation
Before you can manage your workflow effectively, you must first understand that there are two types of tasks: those that require a large amount of time and those that don’t. For small tasks, a half-implementation is a good option—it gets it out of your head, frees up more space for creative thinking, and allows you to feel accomplished without expending too much effort. 10) Buy not Putting Effective Budgets in Place
Businesses run on money. That might seem painfully obvious, but a surprising number of small businesses don’t keep a budget. Without a budget—and an actual, written record of your income and expenses—you won’t be able to know where you stand financially or make smart decisions about how much to spend on things like equipment and new hires.
